The business of Eulerian Technologies
Eulerian Analytics and data collection
Eulerian Technologies is a Web Analytics software solutions provider whose flagship product is Eulerian Analytics.
To this end, the company provides its clients – online advertisers and publishers – with a specialized tool for measuring, collecting, analysing and presenting data derived from user navigation and interaction with Internet marketing channels, used to better understand and optimize the use of clients’ web pages, services and content by their users.
The core business of Eulerian Technologies is the provision of technological solutions that allow online businesses to gain a better understanding of user behaviours and expectations, so that they can improve the interactivity of their websites, thereby increasing the quality of their content and service while enhancing the frequency of repetition of messages, information and advertisements on their sites.
Data collected for Eulerian Technologies clients
Characteristics of Eulerian Technologies cookies
Eulerian Technologies, like all Web Analytics solutions providers and most online companies in general, bases its data collection on the use of cookies, text files installed on users’ computers, on which concise information is recorded by the sites visited by the users.
This information typically relates to the computer’s online navigation. These files cannot contain a virus or an executable.
Eulerian Analytics collects these cookies, linking the following information together: browser used, interactions with advertisements, path taken by the user on a website, pages viewed and actions performed (such as clicks, service enrolment, creation of a shopping cart, forms submissions, etc.), time spent on the site, and so on.
The aim is then to produce statistical reports on the use of Eulerian Technologies clients’ services, to personalize the display of certain pages or to deliver targeted advertising.
These anonymous data are not personal in nature, nor do they name the user.
They contain no information that could be used to directly or indirectly identify a physical person.
Further, the data stored in the cookie are encrypted and are not in cleartext, so only Eulerian Technologies can decrypt the information that each cookie file contains.
The only exception is the user’s IP address, the collection of which is used solely to identify the user’s geographic location, associated with a cookie. When these 2 points are combined, they create a secondary personal datum, given that they could be used in some cases to trace back to an individual. But in this specific instance, Eulerian Technologies undertakes to only store such data for historical purposes during the period of its collaboration with the client. Finally, it is specified that under no circumstances is the Eulerian Technologies solution an e-mail router, meaning that it sends no e-mailshots or newsletters to its clients’ subscribers. Although Eulerian Analytics cookies may be installed on users’ computers when such marketing messages are sent, the fact remains that the transmission of these e-mails is the responsibility of the clients of Eulerian Technologies. Users have the right to have their data corrected or deleted and can exercise this right by contacting the client responsible for sending the e-mail.
Cookies used by Eulerian Technologies
Below are some examples of cookies that Eulerian Technologies might install on users’ computers:
– etuid: a cookie that stores the user’s current identifier, generated by the Eulerian Analytics solution
– et: contains an index of the number of etX cookies
– etX: encrypted, volatile, non-name-specific navigation information that can only be read by the Eulerian Analytics solution
Eulerian Technologies is a trusted third party
The data collected by the company’s software tool and which may be stored at that time by Eulerian Technologies will never be used to establish general behavioural profiles.
The collected data are the exclusive property of each client of Eulerian Technologies; under no circumstances shall they be pooled and/or consolidated amongst Eulerian Technologies’ various clients. Eulerian Analytics may, as applicable and pursuant to its general terms of sale, reserve the right to publish aggregate data in its communications, concerning all websites that use the Eulerian Analytics solution. Such aggregate data will be global statistics for the promotion of the Eulerian Analytics solution, but will in no case include personal data or commercial information.
Eulerian Technologies’ commitment to user privacy
The clients of Eulerian Technologies undertake to inform their websites’ users of the data processing performed by Eulerian Technologies and of the users’ right to access, correct, challenge and delete their personal data (IP address and cookies).
For example, a client might post the following notice on its website: “To best serve you, our customers, we use Eulerian Technologies solutions to measure the number of pages viewed, the number of hits, visitor activities on our site and visitor rates of return. If you do not wish to be traced, please see the Eulerian Technologies privacy policy, available online, and following the instructions provided there.” In general, Eulerian Technologies undertakes to apply the P3P (Platform for Privacy Preferences) protocol, the standard recommended by the W3C and handled by most web browsers.
